One of the many things that I love is the spirit of a lazy weekend during the summer months. I work for a Judge in a Federal Court and pretty much the Court system grinds to a halt during the mid to late summer. This is just fine by me since I partially left Big Law for this clerkship so that I could “recharge” my soul (as well as gain experience and make contacts) before going back to being a white-collar slave. But I digress. One of my particularly favorite summertime activities to indulge in is the rite of an evening baseball game — for me and my lady this evening it will be the Brooklyn Cyclones. The Cyclones are a single A minor league team affiliated with the New York Metropolitans. The luke warm breeze blowing off the inlet at Coney Island while old time Brooklyn Dodgers fans (and their grandchildren) crowd KeySpan Park. Tickets are rather reasonable, compared to the major leagues. Plus you won’t feel like you got robbed for a couple of beers and hotdogs. After the game, a nice stroll down the boardwalk towards Ruby’s bar for a cold pop or a trip to a soft serve ice cream stand on Surf Avenue before taking the subway home. This really is one of my favorite things to do, plus I get to hang out with E and feel like we’re all alone in a sea of about 32,000 others.
